Our Story
Several years ago, a small group of church leaders in Chicago began gathering together to talk about an idea. We pondered what might happen if the churches in our area stopped seeing themselves as disconnected islands of Kingdom activity and began to view themselves as a single Kingdom mosaic, with each church expressing a unique facet of the person of Jesus Christ. Our hearts were stirred by the possibility of one Church, strong and united, moving together into a moment that could only be created by God.
We began to understand the far-reaching potential of a Church committed both to one another as well as God’s purpose in the world. From these early conversations a dream was born - the dream of a sustained Christ-awakening that would transform the people, churches, and communities in which we lived.
Since that time, the Church in Chicago has partnered together for that purpose and has seen God bring together more than 100 churches of every stripe and tribe. We have fed the hungry, helped the poor and elderly, and served those in prison while coming alongside school systems and municipalities. We have seen the reputation of Jesus Christ restored through our humble submission to one another and his leadership.
God has once again captivated our imagination. As we look to the future of a united Church in cities throughout the country, he is inspiring us with the possibility of what can happen when the Church comes together.
