Dear Women of Christ Together,
Ever go to your favorite restaurant and find yourself ordering the same thing you ordered last time? There are lots of other choices that are appealing but there is this one dish you remember with fondness…you can almost taste it. You may have thought about your dining experience between the time you were last at the restaurant until this time. You have a delicious expectation. Others of us go to the same restaurant but for something fresh and different, trusting the establishment to serve what you have come to expect, a lovely, engaging experience around your openness for something new.
Both desires can be met at this year’s upcoming Women’s Retreat. Someone asked me if this year’s event was going to be fresh, something new and different. Yes! And no. Just like your favorite meal, this year’s retreat will be wonderfully familiar and satisfyingly different.
Why have we chosen to do the Spiritual Spa again? So many of you who attended the Retreat last year wrote that having experienced the Spa, you wished you had brought a friend. Now is your chance! Some of you said that you wished you had signed up for the whole Spa, not just Friday night. Now is your chance! Some wrote to say how it good it was to truly rest, something you don’t let yourself do very often. Now is your chance again! Those who were unable to attend but had heard great things about the retreat, now is your chance not to miss it this year (go to our website for comments on last year’s retreat).
This year’s theme is Living Peace, based on the offer Jesus gives us in John 14:27: “I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” This new theme will be expressed through teaching, testimonies, drama, visual arts, and music. The event includes opportunities to experience peace through guided activities of journaling and spiritual resting. There is a lovely sit-down lunch, new service opportunities, and gifts to remind you of your day with us. Stepping into a retreat environment that helps you rest in the love and peace of God never grows old.
Give yourself and a girlfriend (or two) the gift of stepping away from the world for this weekend to experience Peace for your mind, heart and body at the 2012 Spiritual Spa Women’s Retreat at Christ Church Lake Forest February 24th and 25th.
More information and registration available online.Registration is also available on campus at Christ Church Lake Forest. Please register by February 19th. Please contact Christine Mjoen, cmjoen@cclf.org or 847-234-1001 x183 with further questions.

You are cordially invited to attend an informational meeting regarding The House That Grace Built, a transitional home for women in recovery that is Lake County’s newest ministry to women.
Each year hundreds of ladies are released from the Lake County Jail and drug treatment programs. Approximately 59% have no high school diploma; 47% are homeless or have no safe place to return to; and 90% are single moms. Without positive intervention, many of these ladies will return to the street economy of drugs and prostitution to survive.
Come and hear how you can help. There is no charge for the meal or this event, which is hosted by Police Chief Wayne Brooks and Pastor Ken Fielding of Christian Assembly Church in Zion.
